Travellers using Belfast City Airport may face potential delays due to the ongoing construction of Belfast Grand Central Station. The project, scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2024, is causing significant changes in the city's public transport network, especially affecting routes to and from the airport.

Starting from May 2024 until July 2, 2024, the rail line remains open but is no longer serving Great Victoria Street Station. Instead, passengers can access the city via York Street Station, Lanyon Place, Botanic, or City Hospital Stations. Metro and Glider services are also available, with valid rail tickets accepted for interchange between these stations.

From July 3, 2024, to early autumn 2024, the railway line between Belfast Lanyon Place and Lisburn will be closed for summer maintenance. During this period, express bus services will run every 10 minutes on weekdays and every hour on Sundays between Europa Bus Centre and Lisburn Train Stations. Additionally, a direct shuttle will operate every 30 minutes between Europa Bus Centre and Lanyon Place.

Despite these disruptions, other rail lines from Belfast Lanyon Place and York Street Station to Derry~Londonderry, Larne, and Bangor will remain operational. Cross-border services will be available from Portadown, with coach transfers from Belfast to Newry to connect with the Enterprise Train.

New Ulsterbus and Metro timetables will come into effect on July 1, 2024, and the new Belfast Grand Central Station is expected to open in autumn 2024, featuring rail services and 16 bus stands. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates on Translink's website to plan their journeys accordingly and to minimize any inconvenience.
