Snow and Ice Keep Schiphol Flight Schedules Unstable

Winter weather continues to affect flight operations at Amsterdam Schiphol. Delays and cancellations are affecting both departing and arriving flights. Snow and low temperatures continue to put pressure on airport operations, leaving Schiphol more affected than nearby airports. Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Brussels have so far reported fewer problems linked to the weather.

Airlines at Schiphol are adjusting schedules as conditions remain unsettled. Flight operations are checked repeatedly during the day, with safety requirements deciding which services can go ahead. Some flights are being cancelled earlier instead of shortly before departure, giving passengers notice sooner. Transavia has also reported delays and cancellations as weather limits aircraft and ground handling.

Situation at Schiphol

  • Delays and cancellations continue at Amsterdam Schiphol
  • Selected Transavia flights are affected
  • Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Brussels report fewer weather-related issues
  • More cancellations remain possible if winter conditions continue

Airlines are reviewing weather reports and available capacity throughout the day. Flight schedules may be adjusted as new information becomes available.

Passengers whose flights are cancelled receive direct messages about their booking. If a service does not operate, the ticket can be moved to the next available flight or refunded, with any price difference covered. Departure times can shift during the day as weather and airport conditions change, meaning earlier information may no longer be valid. Further information is shared once flight plans are set.

Disruption at Schiphol has not stopped all travel options. Train services continue to operate between major Dutch cities and Brussels while flights remain affected. Some passengers may also use nearby airports that are seeing fewer weather-related problems or choose to travel on a different day. Rail services are operating on adjusted timetables in some areas due to the same winter conditions.
