Scandinavian and Vietnam Airlines to Link Northern Europe with Southeast Asia via New Codeshare

Scandinavian Airlines and Vietnam Airlines have confirmed a new codeshare agreement set to begin in July 2025. The announcement was made during the Vietnam Sweden Business Forum held in Stockholm, where representatives from both airlines emphasized the need for improved coordination on long-distance flights between Northern Europe and Southeast Asia. This deal shows how the two regions are working more closely in the skies and trying to connect more cities by adding new long-distance flight options.

The codeshare agreement includes the following arrangements:

• Joint ticketing for itineraries that combine flights operated by both airlines
• Flight connections available between Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City
• Coordinated schedules to reduce transfer times at major hubs
• Use of shared flight numbers on selected routes within the agreement
• Unified check-in procedures for passengers using codeshare flights
• Access to connecting services without separate bookings for each leg of the journey

Passengers flying to Hanoi will find access to Ha Long Bay, known for its emerald waters and limestone islands, located northeast of the capital. Also close by is the One Pillar Pagoda, a tiny temple built way back in 1049 that still stands out today as one of the most recognizable designs in Vietnamese architecture. You can get to both spots by catching a local flight or taking a ride by road after landing at Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport.

In Ho Chi Minh City, stop by the Central Post Office, a bright yellow building from the French colonial period, and take a look at the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, not to be confused with its Parisian namesake. Both are located in District 1 and are known for their architecture and historic value. Ben Thanh Market is another spot to check out if you're nearby. It's been around for ages and is packed with food stalls, handmade goods, and the kind of everyday scenes that show how the city really moves.

This codeshare deal is another move toward making it easier to fly between Northern Europe and Southeast Asia without needing to juggle multiple bookings or airlines. By syncing their flight times and letting people book both legs together, the two airlines can cover more places without having to launch completely new flights. This is all part of a broader plan to get airlines to coordinate better and draw clearer travel lines between major airports on each side.
