airBaltic plans to resume direct flights between Riga and Tel Aviv from 1 July 2026, as the situation in the Middle East gradually stabilises and passenger demand grows. The Latvian airline said the route is expected to operate three times a week, reconnecting Latvia with Israel after a period of suspended services.

The airline said the restart will follow recommendations from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and restrictions set by insurers. airBaltic added that safety remains its main priority and that it will continue to monitor developments in the region. The schedule could still be adjusted if the situation changes before or after flights resume.

What passengers should check

Before booking or travelling, passengers should check:

  • Whether the Riga–Tel Aviv flight is confirmed
  • Current airBaltic updates for Tel Aviv services
  • Entry rules for Israel and any transit points
  • Travel insurance cover for disruption or conflict-related changes
  • Contact details in the booking, in case the airline sends updates

The airline advises passengers not to travel to the airport unless their flight is confirmed.

The route would restore a direct link for people travelling between Latvia and Israel for family visits, business trips, tourism and onward connections. Tel Aviv also gives access to Jerusalem, the Mediterranean coast and other parts of Israel, while Riga can work as a Baltic gateway for passengers travelling in the opposite direction.

The planned restart is useful, but it is not a signal to ignore travel checks. Routes affected by regional security issues can change quickly, even after tickets go on sale. Passengers considering this service should keep the booking flexible, follow airline updates and check official travel advice close to departure.
