We are talking about Nightjet, a rail network expansion project involving ÖBB (Austria), SNCF (France), DB (Germany), and CFF (Switzerland). This initiative has been underway since 2021 and is expected to start operating from Barcelona in December 2024.

The value of Nightjet's offer is that passengers will be able to travel to 13 major European cities in an environmentally friendly way and sleep in comfortable columns during the trip before arriving at their destination the next day. This was reported by usanews.net.

The night trains of this consortium can travel at speeds of up to 230 km/h, can accommodate 254 people, and tickets can be purchased from 30 euros depending on the destination and accommodation. Night jet trains offer their travelers different types of compartments for traveling. Sleeping cars, with a capacity of 1 to 3 people, will be their special business class. This accommodation is the highest degree of comfort and is ideal for families as it has a shower, personalized alarm clock and a la carte drinks and snacks. The bunk beds are the best option for groups (4 to 6 people) and include breakfast, while the mini-cabins for individuals or couples provide maximum privacy. All compartments have a built-in sink.

On the other hand, if you're one of those who prefer more conventional travel options, Nightjet's columns have comfortable seats with armrests, a built-in reading lamp and Wi-Fi, as well as several luggage storage options. Each car has a separate toilet, and some trains have a restaurant.

The night jet trains are operated by Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB), Austria's national railroad company. This project began in December 2021, when the first lines Vienna-Munich and Zurich-Cologne-Amsterdam were opened. The second line connected Zurich, Milan, and Rome, and last year the third line from Vienna and Berlin to Brussels and Paris was launched.

This year, a section is scheduled to open for Barcelona, connecting it to Zurich, from where the above transfers to Amsterdam or Rome and other destinations can be made.
