New Barbados Route Offers Winter Option from Southwest UK
Travellers flying from Bristol will have a new option for reaching the Caribbean between late October 2025 and late March 2026. KLM is launching a seasonal route from Amsterdam to Bridgetown, Barbados, operating three times per week. Since Bristol maintains daily connections to Amsterdam, this development provides a one-stop winter itinerary to the Caribbean for passengers in southwest England, offering a route that does not require travel through London, Manchester, or other major UK hubs.
Planes leave Amsterdam for Bridgetown three times a week in winter, with departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. With flights spaced out across the week, it’s easy to plan anything from a quick getaway to a longer break in Barbados. Frequent flights from Bristol to Schiphol mean travellers don’t have to go far to start longer trips abroad. This could be a good choice for travellers who want to skip the extra time it often takes to reach far-off flights from smaller UK airports.
We are delighted that KLM’s network continues to grow, providing our customers even greater choice and convenience. This new connection means our customers can now access the beautiful Caribbean island of Barbados with just an easy connective flight in Amsterdam, making travel more accessible and convenient than ever before.
In Barbados, flights land in the capital Bridgetown, where several attractions are located within walking distance of the main transport routes. The Garrison Historic Area, recognised by UNESCO, is home to old stone buildings once used by British troops and colonial officials back in the 1700s. A short walk away, Browne’s Beach offers calm waters and a wide stretch of sand close to the city, making it accessible to new arrivals without requiring lengthy travel after landing at Grantley Adams International Airport.
Bridgetown’s city centre sits beside the water, where fishing boats and catamarans pass through the marina throughout the day. From this spot, you can spot the Parliament Buildings by looking for the tall clock tower with the island’s flag waving above it. Winding streets near the marina take you past small shops and cafés where locals go, giving a glimpse into everyday Bridgetown beyond the tourist areas.
This new flight option gives people across the UK another way to reach the Caribbean during the busy winter season, even if they are not travelling from the major cities. It reflects a wider shift toward improving long-haul access beyond major city airports. As airlines continue adjusting to demand for more regional departures, such seasonal additions may influence how passengers from outside London and the southeast plan their winter journeys abroad.
