Intoxicated Passenger Forces Ryanair to Land in Toulouse

A Ryanair flight traveling from Manchester to Ibiza was forced to make an unscheduled landing after a heavily intoxicated passenger became unruly, attacking both the crew and other travelers. The British man, who consumed a significant amount of alcohol, began causing disturbances mid-flight, leading the pilots to divert.

The passenger reportedly drank straight vodka and started verbally abusing the crew, attempting physical aggression. Fellow passengers tried to intervene, but the situation only worsened as the man became more hostile.

The cabin crew opted for an emergency landing at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, where the disruptive traveler was handed over to law enforcement. Despite the intervention, the passenger continued shouting profanities, even targeting the French authorities.

Flight Delays and Ryanair's Position

The plane remained grounded for around 90 minutes as the intoxicated passenger and his companion were escorted off by police. Once the issue was resolved, the flight resumed its route to Ibiza.

Ryanair officials expressed concern over the increasing frequency of incidents involving inebriated passengers. CEO Michael O'Leary recently proposed stricter alcohol policies at airports, advocating a two-drink maximum for travelers prior to boarding.

"We don’t want to deny people the opportunity to relax with a drink, but we cannot allow passengers to behave recklessly at 33,000 feet," O'Leary stated.

Stricter Measures on Alcohol Smuggling

In light of these growing issues, Ryanair staff have increased checks on hand luggage to prevent passengers from smuggling duty-free alcohol aboard. This initiative is aimed at curbing the consumption of prohibited beverages during flights, which has been a common trigger for such disruptions.
