Joby Bevirt, the founder of Joby Aviation, believes that electric air taxis can help alleviate pollution and congestion in Indian cities. Speaking in India, the expert stated that his company plans to commence operations in the country after 2025.

Joby Aviation, a California-based company, has developed a small electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This aircraft can serve as an air taxi, providing a fast, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective mode of transportation, as reported by The Economic Times.

Bevirt is confident that India presents a promising market for eVTOL technology. He highlighted the country's dynamic nature, which allows for swift adoption of new technologies.

Electric air taxis have the potential to assist India in reducing air pollution, easing traffic congestion, making transportation more affordable, and enabling faster travel.

Joby Aviation is not the sole contender eyeing the Indian eVTOL market. Archer Aviation, a competitor of Joby, also aims to launch an air taxi service by 2026.

Joby's aircraft take off vertically, eliminating the need for a runway. This feature makes them ideal for operation in megacities where land is scarce.

Bevirt likened Joby to Uber. Through a mobile app, passengers can swiftly and easily book a ride, akin to ordering a car from the renowned company.

"With a single click on your mobile phone, you can book a ride just like you do with Uber today... It's a measure that not only promotes greener cities but also enhances land use efficiency," stated Joby Bevirt.
