Hilton has opened the Palacio de Godoy Cáceres, part of its Curio Collection, following the restoration of the 16th-century palace originally built for Spanish conquistador Francisco Godoy. The 1563 structure stands in the UNESCO-recognized Old Town, noted for preserved medieval buildings and the historic presence of Jewish, Muslim, and Christian communities. The renovation kept the palace’s historic character while incorporating modern visitor facilities.

The hotel combines historical character with modern amenities to support a comfortable and engaging stay for travelers. The property features several facilities for visitors:

  • 73 guest rooms
  • Rooftop bar with views of the city and surrounding countryside
  • Spa
  • Event spaces
  • Mamay Aldana restaurant highlighting Extremadura cuisine
  • Gardens designed with native and American plant species

By merging historic structures with modern functionality, the area provides travelers with a context rich in cultural meaning.

Visitors have the opportunity to see several historic landmarks near the hotel. The Torre de Bujaco, a medieval tower, provides views over Plaza Mayor. The Arco de la Estrella, a 15th-century stone gate, serves as the principal entry point to the Old Town. Blending Gothic and Renaissance features, the Concatedral de Santa María illustrates an important aspect of the city’s cultural and spiritual legacy. All three sites are within walking distance, making brief visits simple.

Other nearby attractions include Plaza de Santa María, a central square surrounded by historic buildings where local events take place. The Casa de los Golfines de Abajo is a Renaissance palace known for its distinctive façades. The Palacio de los Marqueses de Torreorgaz reflects the city’s aristocratic heritage. These sites give visitors the chance to explore Cáceres’ cultural and historic setting while remaining in the city center.
