Starting in summer 2026, easyJet plans to launch 11 additional international routes from Newcastle Airport. The airline confirmed that the first flights are due to begin in late March, supported by the opening of a new base at the airport. This represents a notable expansion of direct flight options from the North East, providing travellers with more opportunities to reach their destinations without transfers.

The updated schedule introduces international routes from Newcastle Airport to a range of destinations in southern Europe and North Africa. These include:

  • Malta
  • Rhodes
  • Corfu
  • Dalaman
  • Antalya
  • Faro
  • Reus
  • Nice
  • Prague
  • Sharm El Sheikh
  • Enfidha

Flights are set to operate on specific weekdays and weekends. Some services will begin in March, with others starting later in the summer. All routes are expected to follow regular weekly patterns.

These new routes connect travellers to varied landscapes and quieter coastal regions. In Rhodes, Tsambika Beach is known for its wide sandy stretch and surrounding hillsides, while inland roads lead to villages with olive groves and traditional stone houses. Near Faro, travellers can reach the cliffs above Praia da Marinha or explore the Ria Formosa lagoon, a protected area dotted with islands and sandbars.

Other destinations offer outdoor escapes suitable for both warm-season travel and off-peak months. In Malta, Dingli Cliffs provide open sea views from the island’s highest point, and the sheltered cove at Għajn Tuffieħa is often less crowded. Dalaman allows access to the turquoise waters of Ölüdeniz and nearby forested valleys. On the North African coast, Enfidha sits near long stretches of beach, while Sharm El Sheikh is a starting point for trips into the Sinai desert or along coral-rich shores of Ras Mohammed.

With more destinations available directly from Newcastle, passengers across Tyne and Wear, Cumbria, southern Scotland and North Yorkshire may benefit from simpler travel planning. Travellers may avoid stopovers at major airports, as the new routes better correspond to varying trip durations and seasonal demand. For many, the updated network brings closer access to coastlines, warm climates and quieter outdoor locations across Europe and North Africa.
