Eurail Pass Updates Travel Conditions Across Europe

Eurail Pass, celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, has announced updated conditions and options for using passes to travel by train across Europe. The pass is intended for non-European citizens and allows for multiple train trips in 33 European countries.

Starting in 2024, two main types of passes will be available: the One Country Pass and the Eurail Global Pass. The One Country Pass covers travel within one country, while the Eurail Global Pass offers unlimited travel across Europe. Passes are available for different age groups and service classes.

The cost of a Eurail Global Pass starts at $311 for a four-day second-class pass. Longer passes, such as the three-month pass, can cost up to $1335 for first class. The One Country Pass is available at various prices depending on the country. Passes can be purchased online and from authorized vendors. Buying them at railway stations in Europe will be more expensive.

Some trains, especially high-speed and international routes, require seat reservations. The cost of reservations varies depending on the route and class of service. For example, reservations on TGV INOUI trains in France and AVE trains in Spain cost between $13 and $16.50.

The Eurail Pass is valid in 33 countries, including Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The pass can be activated within 11 months from the date of purchase.
