As Euro 2024 nears its climax, easyJet has implemented a new initiative to keep passengers informed about the latest scores during the tournament's final matches. England and the Netherlands competed for the last spot in the final against Spain, who secured their place in the semi-final the day before. Passengers on easyJet flights to and from these countries are now receiving real-time score updates directly from the airline’s Operations Control Centre at London Luton Airport.

The updates are communicated via Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) messages, allowing scores to be transmitted to aircraft flying at 38,000 feet. These updates are then announced to passengers by the flight deck crew. This service is designed to cater to fans eagerly following their teams, whether they're long-suffering England supporters or hopeful Spanish and Dutch fans.

In addition to live score updates, easyJet has considered the preferences of passengers who prefer to catch up on the action after landing. A 'Match of the Day' style spoiler alert is issued before any score announcements, ensuring that those who want to remain unaware can do so.

Bart Prudon, easyJet's Director of Flight Operations, commented on the initiative: "As Europe’s leading airline, operating hundreds of flights across the continent, our pilots will ensure that fans flying during the tournament's final games can stay updated as football fever grips Europe this summer."

In response to increased demand, easyJet has also added hundreds of additional seats from the UK to Germany, providing more options for customers traveling to European Championship games. This initiative has been well-received by football fans traveling from all over Europe to support their teams in Germany.
