Dubai will launch a new taxi platform that will work on the principle of auction

Dubai is planning to launch a new taxi service in the near future, which will allow passengers to choose a car at a price they can afford. The service will operate on the principle of an auction, offering lower fares for passengers and higher incomes for drivers.

In addition, Drife will become the first decentralized taxi calling system in the UAE, Khaleej Times reported.

It is noted that the new platform will provide passengers with a choice of affordable prices and drivers at a minimum fare, which is usually 30 percent higher than standard fares. Meanwhile, drivers have the option of offering discounts, maintaining the standard fare, or demanding a surcharge.

The service will operate on a zero-commission basis, "ensuring that up to 100 percent of the fare paid by the passenger goes directly to the driver." This allows drivers to earn more income while providing benefits to passengers in the form of savings.

"With no profit motive in the fare, Drife can offer drivers affordable rates, ensuring that drivers receive their full earnings. To support the operation, the platform adopts a subscription-based model where drivers pay a fee to access the platform. Subsequently, all revenue from rides is fully owned by the drivers, which helps to create a mutually beneficial ecosystem," said Drife founder Firdos Sheikh.
