Discover Airlines to Launch Frankfurt–Belize Flights via Costa Rica
Belize is set to gain its first scheduled service operated by a European airline, bringing a new option for holidaymakers travelling through Frankfurt. Discover Airlines will connect the German hub with Belize City during the winter 2027/28 season, opening another route into Central America. The journey has one important detail: flights heading to Belize will stop in San José, Costa Rica, before continuing onwards.
When Discover Airlines Will Fly to Belize

- Return (local): Belize City 20:00; Frankfurt 12:45 next day.
- Bookings: Expected to open mid-December 2026; fares not yet announced.
- Timings: Subject to change before launch.
The new routing provides an alternative to reaching Belize through US hubs such as Miami or Houston, where British visitors need an ESTA or visa even for transit. Panama City remains another connecting option. Discover intends to operate the Belize service with an Airbus A350-900, although deployment is still planned rather than final. Flights will use the same triangular service through San José, not a separate US connection.
Arriving at Philip Goldson International Airport puts visitors within reach of Belize's reef and rainforest attractions, though most need onward transport. Water taxis to Caye Caulker and San Pedro depart from downtown Belize City, around 25 minutes by road from the international airport. San Pedro Belize Express offers shared airport transfers costing $25 for the first passenger and $10 for each additional traveller, with ferry tickets sold separately.
The flight is scheduled to arrive at 18:30, after the last water taxis currently depart Belize City at 17:30 and 17:40. Anyone going on to Caye Caulker or San Pedro may need to stay overnight in Belize City or look at domestic flight options before booking accommodation. Ferry times could be different by 2027, but the evening arrival is still worth bearing in mind when comparing this route with other ways of reaching Belize.
