Beer spas have recently appeared in Iceland, Spain, and the USA, but their origins lie in a country with a long beer tradition – the Czech Republic. First opened in the 1980s, one of the most famous beer spas in the Czech Republic, Chateau Spa Beerland, is located in Prague. This place is distinguished by its elegant atmosphere and historical significance.

In this spa, the procedure includes bathing in an oak tub with water enriched with hops, malt, and yeast, which, according to experts, helps relieve stress, open pores, and rejuvenate the skin. In addition to bathing, visitors are offered to lie on a straw bed, which stimulates the skin.

Proponents of this procedure claim that the components of beer have a beneficial effect on the skin, relieve muscle tension, and improve circulation. Inhaling the aromas of hops promotes relaxation and improves mood. This unusual wellness trend is gaining popularity worldwide.

Recently, beer spas have opened in Iceland, Spain, and the USA. In 2023, BierBath opened near Baltimore, and also in Bruges, Belgium. This year, the first beer spa in the UK will open at The Norfolk Mead in eastern England.

Although the concept of beer spas is relatively new, studies show that the components of beer, such as malted grains, yeast, and hops, are indeed beneficial for the skin. However, skeptics argue that there is no historical evidence of beer being used in spa procedures, and this is more of a marketing ploy. Nevertheless, beer spas offer a unique and enjoyable experience that attracts more and more people worldwide.
