Demand for travel across the Americas is experiencing significant growth, as shown by the latest joint report from Amadeus and the UN World Tourism Organization. Entitled "Tourism Insights 2024: Focus on the Americas, May-August 2024," the report reveals a dynamic tourism landscape in the region.

The report highlights a significant increase in international tourism revenue in the Americas, with 2023 figures reaching 90% of pre-pandemic levels. This growth is attributed to increased demand for travel, evidenced by a 132% increase in travel searches between May and August 2024 compared to the previous year.

The Americas, encompassing North America, South America, Central America, and the Caribbean, continue to witness steady growth in tourism volumes. Leading markets driving this growth include the USA, the UK, and Brazil, with North America emerging as a frontrunner among global travelers.

In North America, the USA, UK, and Brazil lead in searches, with growing interest from China and Japan. Central America, Costa Rica remains a popular destination, with searches originating from the USA, Canada, and the UK. In South America, Argentina and Brazil are gaining popularity, with Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Santiago emerging as the most sought-after destinations.

In the Caribbean region, there is interest from the USA, Argentina, and France, with Punta Cana topping the list of most sought-after destinations.

Francisco Perez-Lozao Rüter, President of Hospitality at Amadeus, emphasizes the importance of data in understanding traveler behavior. He underscores the need for tourism organizations to remain flexible to respond to the latest trends, especially last-minute changes.

The UNWTO Secretary-General emphasizes the importance of market intelligence in meeting the growing demand for travel. He expresses satisfaction with strengthening the partnership with Amadeus, highlighting the value of the joint report in providing specific insights for Member States.

In summary, the joint report paints an encouraging picture for tourism in the Americas, highlighting the industry's resilience amidst changing global dynamics. With data-driven insights and collaborative efforts, stakeholders expect to harness the benefits of emerging opportunities and address challenges in the dynamic landscape of travel and tourism.
