Air France-KLM's Flying Blue program is offering up to 25% off on selected reward flights for May, with fares as low as 15,000 miles one-way for long-haul flights. The offer allows customers to book reward flights for departures until October 31st, with the booking deadline at the end of May.

Attractive Discounts

According to Loyalty Lobby, the maximum discount offered this time is 25% off the required miles, although previous sales have featured rebates as high as 50%. The Flying Blue program, based on the amount spent on flights and services, allows customers to earn miles through various means, such as buying seats, booking baggage, reserving hotels via the Air France app, or offsetting carbon emissions.

Redeeming Miles Challenges

Redeeming miles through Flying Blue can be challenging, as the program uses dynamic pricing similar to regular cash tickets. While some advertised fares are as low as 15,000 miles one-way, the actual cost may vary depending on demand and specific dates.

Avios Comparison

The Flying Blue program differs from the Avios ecosystem used by British Airways. In the Avios program, flight prices are determined based on distance and cabin type, with separate Avios amounts for each flight, including connections. The Avios requirements vary by distance, with the shortest flights requiring 4,750 Avios for economy and 8,500 Avios for business class, and the longest flights needing up to 32,500 Avios for economy and 170,000 Avios for first class.

Bottom Line

Flying Blue's May promotions offer exciting destinations and potential deals. However, with dynamic pricing, acting quickly is crucial to secure the advertised prices, as they may not last long.
