Wine cheaper than water and secrets of Europe underfoot: bloggers recommend
Blogger and travel enthusiast Casey Rose shared her review of her vacation in Venice. The video she posted on TikTok has gained 23,000 views.
She considers this city a great option for a vacation. In her opinion, you can have a cheap vacation and get a lot of cultural impressions here, The Scottish Sun reports.
According to the blogger, the cost of water is very cheap here. Moreover, a plane ticket here costs less than 20 pounds sterling.
In her video, Kacie talked about the hidden moments. She pointed to unusual white squares all over the ground with holes in them.
"You can just walk past them because no one will tell you about them. You might think they are gutters or something, but in fact they all lead to a huge underground tank that covers almost the entire area," the blogger said.
According to her, the cylinders are actually wells.
"It was once said that Venice was in the water, but there is no water in it, and this is because it was very difficult to drink fresh water in Venice at that time, so they used these cisterns to collect rainwater," the narrator clarified.
In total, she said, there were more than 6,000 cisterns in Venice.
Under her video, users noted that for this reason, "wine was cheaper than water."
A discussion about other secrets of Venice erupted in the comments. Travelers recalled their discoveries.
"When I first visited Venice as a student in 2014, my friend and I quickly discovered that alcoholic beverages in restaurants were cheaper than water. Every time we stopped at a restaurant, we made sure to order a glass of Aperol Spritz. Because it helped to spread out our meager budget a little bit," users said.
Commenting on the price of wine, someone noted that tourists in Venice are more likely to pay for the view in a restaurant.
One person added:"Don't forget that one glass of wine costs 1/1.5 euros, and this is literally one of the lowest prices in all of Europe."
"These 1 euro glasses of wine are called vino sfuso, also called house wine. Although house wines have a bad reputation in some parts of the world, the locals in Venice use them as a tonic throughout the day."
Bloggers advise how to get a glass of wine cheaper. To do this, be sure to visit Ombra, where you will be brought a glass of wine.
To get water cheaper, experts recommend buying water bottles for just 20 cents in Italian supermarkets or filling them in water fountains.
