Weekend Closures and Bus Replacements on London’s Mildmay Line Due to Engineering Works

Passengers travelling on London’s Mildmay line are being warned of upcoming weekend station closures due to essential engineering works. Network Rail has announced that services will be suspended on several dates between May and July along key sections of the line between Stratford and Richmond/Clapham Junction. These planned shutdowns will allow workers to replace nearly 1,200 metres of track to improve future reliability.
The closures will specifically affect stations between Camden Road and Stratford on multiple weekends, with no trains running during these periods. Additional suspensions are scheduled between Gospel Oak and Richmond/Shepherd’s Bush, as well as between Willesden Junction and Richmond or Clapham Junction on selected Sundays. Rail replacement buses and other alternative routes will be available, but passengers are urged to review timetables ahead of time to avoid any inconvenience.
We know that weekend closures can be frustrating for people, but our work this summer is essential to keep trains running safely and reliably in the years to come.
These closures are likely to disrupt travellers heading to key destinations along the Mildmay line. Weekend visitors relying on the Overground to access attractions, shopping areas, or connections to other rail services may face longer journeys and extra transfers. Advance planning will be essential to avoid delays and confusion during the affected dates.
Although the closures may cause inconvenience, the upgrades are designed to improve the line's long-term reliability and reduce the chance of unexpected disruptions once finished. Travellers can expect smoother rides and fewer service interruptions in the future, making the network more dependable for both leisure and regular journeys. These closures may also affect commuters who rely on the line for their daily travel to work or other essential destinations.
Travellers heading to London this summer should be aware of these closures and check for travel updates before they go. While temporary, the station shutdowns will directly impact weekend mobility across parts of the city, underlining the need for flexible travel arrangements and awareness of alternative routes.
