A well-known travel expert has issued a crucial warning to tourists about the importance of checking what items are allowed in their destination countries to avoid severe penalties, including arrest.

Megan, who runs the popular YouTube channel Portable Professional, regularly shares tips to help travelers avoid common scams and make the most of their trips. In a recent video, she emphasized the need for tourists to research banned items in the countries they plan to visit.

Megan explained that failing to understand the rules and regulations of a transit or destination country can lead to significant legal troubles, particularly with items like CBD oil. She noted, "CBD oil might be legal in your departure and destination countries, but carrying it through certain transit countries can lead to severe legal consequences."

While tourists should ensure all their packed items are allowed, Megan specifically highlighted the importance of checking the legality of medicinal substances like CBD oils. In Europe, CBD oil is legal in most countries if it has a low THC level, but it is banned in places like Albania, Andorra, and Belarus. Additionally, many countries require a prescription for medicinal substances.

Megan pointed out that tourists have faced legal issues in places like Dubai for having traces of THC in their systems, even if they were not carrying the substance. She explained, "There have been cases where travelers face legal issues in Dubai due to the presence of substances like THC in their system upon arrival, even if they were not [physically] carrying the substance with them."

Her advice underscores the critical importance of understanding and respecting drug regulations in transit and destination countries. Megan concluded, "Do the research as you might be surprised what you find."

Tourists should heed this warning to avoid unexpected legal problems that could ruin their travels.
