Aeroitalia Brings Back Genoa–Sardinia Flights for Christmas

Aeroitalia is bringing back direct flights from Genoa to Alghero and Olbia for Christmas and New Year 2026/27. Both routes operated during the summer and will return for a small number of festive departures. The extra services give people visiting family or planning a winter holiday another way to reach northern Sardinia without connecting through another Italian airport.
Christmas Flight Schedule

- Genoa–Alghero: 12:30–14:10.

Genoa–Olbia

- Genoa–Olbia: 12:30–14:00 on 24 December and 2 January.

30 December and 6 January: Timings differ between official airport announcements; confirm with Aeroitalia.
Tickets are already on sale through Aeroitalia, but finding a suitable return could prove tricky. The two routes operate on different dates, and neither offers daily flights. Anyone whose preferred return day is unavailable may need to extend their stay, fly through another airport or arrange a connecting journey. That could increase the total cost, particularly during the Christmas holidays.
Alghero is a convenient base for exploring the historic old town, Capo Caccia and Sardinia's north-west coast. Olbia provides access to Costa Smeralda and San Teodoro in the north-east. Alghero Airport is about 10 kilometres from the city, with buses also serving Sassari. However, the airport warns that bus timetables can change on public holidays, so arrivals should check their onward connections.
The Christmas flights give passengers another way to reach Sardinia directly, although the dates may not suit shorter holidays. Those who cannot find a convenient return flight may have to travel through another Italian airport instead. That could mean paying more for tickets and spending extra time in transit, so it makes sense to settle the return journey before booking accommodation.
