Travel company will compensate you if your vacation is ruined by rain
Tourists from Sweden whose vacation was ruined by bad weather will be able to get their money back. The travel agency TUI Sweden has introduced a so-called "weather guarantee" that provides compensation for rain.
Previously, a similar offer could be obtained by checking into Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, which provide an extra night's stay if the rain ruined the vacation, the Daily Mail reports.
TUI Sweden customers are allowed to purchase a guarantee, the cost of which depends on the weather forecast at the hotel location provided by Sensible Weather.
It is reported that expected precipitation of 1.5 mm per hour or more, lasting at least two hours, will automatically activate the guarantee. The compensation will be available on the same day, and the amount depends on the total cost of the trip.
Tourists will be able to spend their rain compensation, for example, on shopping or visiting galleries, exhibitions, cinemas, or museums where it will be dry. The offer went live in October.
"We can't influence the weather in our destinations, but with this weather guarantee, our customers can have a fun vacation even if it's raining," said Tommy Serban, Chief Commercial Officer of TUI Nordic.
