New Rail Services Set to Boost Connectivity Between North Wales and London

Starting from May 18, 2025, Avanti West Coast will add 12 extra weekly services between Holyhead and London Euston, raising the frequency of trains on this route by 17%. Additionally, two extra weekend services will be added from Chester, providing more travel options for passengers between North Wales and the capital.
The expansion of services is enabled by the introduction of the new Evero train fleet, created by Hitachi. These trains will replace the older Voyager models currently operating on the route. The new trains come with a few handy upgrades, including wireless charging, better Wi-Fi, more room for luggage, and features that make travel easier for everyone, like wheelchair spots and Braille signage. These enhancements aim to deliver a more comfortable and accessible experience for all passengers.
We’re delighted to be introducing more services between North Wales and London this summer by utilising our new Evero fleet. These additional services not only deliver on our commitment to improve connectivity to the regions we serve but also enhance the experience for our customers, which we hope will encourage more people to travel by train.
The updated timetable will provide greater convenience for reaching popular spots in North Wales. Notably, the new connections will provide direct access to Conwy Castle and Caernarfon Castle, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The picturesque town of Llandudno, renowned for its historic pier and promenade, will be simpler to access. Additionally, the increased services will allow passengers to travel directly to Chester, where they can connect to other parts of the UK, improving regional travel links.
Visitors to Snowdonia and Anglesey, two of Wales’s most scenic spots, will find it easier to get there thanks to the changes. These areas are popular with tourists who enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, visiting castles like Beaumaris, and exploring the region’s beaches. The new services offer a more sustainable travel option compared to driving, potentially reducing road traffic, especially during the busy summer months.

Avanti West Coast doing this as part of a bigger plan to sort out the train situation between North Wales and London. The expansion of services will provide passengers with more frequent departures, more travel options, and make it easier to organize their journeys. These changes are timely as rail operators across the UK adjust their schedules to meet the rising demand during the summer travel season.
