Antalya, located on the Mediterranean coast, came in second with 14.1 million tourists, followed by the northwestern province of Edirne with 4 million. In addition, about 1.4 million foreigners visited the province of Izmir on the Aegean coast, reports the Tehran Times.
At the same time, the number of Iranian citizens visiting Turkey increased by 3 percent compared to the same period a year earlier.
According to the available data, 280,951 Iranian citizens visited Turkey in October, making the Islamic Republic the fourth source of tourism for the neighboring country this month.
The total number of foreign tourists arriving in Turkey increased by 11.6 percent between January and October compared to last year to 44.2 million, Hurriyet Daily News reported on Saturday.
Including Turkish citizens living abroad, the total number of visitors reached 50.2 million in the first 10 months of this year.
