Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas has partnered with marine conservation organisation WiseOceans to launch a Marine Discovery Programme on Mahé Island. The initiative is designed for resort guests and offers them the chance to explore coral reefs and gain knowledge about local marine ecosystems. Central to the programme are guided snorkelling sessions and educational workshops, led by marine biologists with experience in reef restoration and ocean science.

The focus of the programme is not limited to observation it encourages active participation. Guests are invited to learn about coral degradation, marine biodiversity, and practical ways they can contribute to conservation. WiseOceans, with more than ten years of experience in Seychelles, leads the educational and research elements of the programme. Their efforts ensure that events are well-planned, educational, and aligned with the region's broader environmental objectives.

Our collaboration with Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas exemplifies how luxury and conservation can go hand in hand. We are excited to share our passion for the marine environment and empower guests to make a meaningful impact on our oceans.
Caitlin Rentell, onsite Marine Biologist and Educator from WiseOceans added,

This collaboration reflects a growing trend in contemporary tourism: tourists are looking for experiences that blend education with a strong environmental focus. Guided by the experts, visitors partake in nature based activities not only to get to know marine life but also have an improved ecological challenges awareness. It reflects a type of travel that encourages awareness and reduces impact in line with evolving expectations from today’s travellers.

These days, travelers in the Seychelles aren’t just sticking to casual sightseeing, they're also getting more involved in learning hands-on ways to connect with the region’s marine life. Beyond the usual leisure activities, the Marine Discovery Program involves participants in hands-on learning and conservation projects. This makes a simple trip wise and significant for many, strengthening their sense of connection.

As environmental awareness continues to influence where and how people travel, programmes like this reflect changing expectations. They offer a version of tourism that is both responsible and enriching. For those spending time in Seychelles, it’s an opportunity to engage with the ocean in ways that go deeper than what’s usually found at a resort.
