On 4 June 2025, a passenger aboard Ryanair flight FR7567 from Ibiza to Alicante attacked a cabin crew member, creating a major disturbance. The Alicante Court later found the individual guilty and imposed a €270 fine. The case reflects the legal consequences of unruly behaviour on flights and shows that authorities in Europe are increasingly willing to take formal action against passengers who break the rules.

Ryanair stated that this incident is fully covered by its firm zero tolerance approach to passenger misbehavior. While incidents of this kind are relatively rare, they can create considerable disruption and discomfort for everyone on board. The airline stated that legal consequences are a key way to deter such behaviour and to ensure flights remain safe and enjoyable for both passengers and staff.

“We welcome the Alicante Court’s conviction of this unruly passenger whose inexcusable behaviour disrupted a flight from Ibiza to Alicante in June last. This demonstrates just one of the many consequences that passengers who disrupt flights will face as part of Ryanair’s zero tolerance policy. We hope this will further deter disruptive behaviour on flights so that both passengers and crew can travel in a comfortable and respectful environment."
Ryanair’s Director of Communications, Jade Kirwan

The ruling serves as a warning that aggressive or disorderly conduct is treated seriously. Physical assaults or threats on board are no longer minor infractions and may result in fines or prosecution. Across Europe, courts are enforcing flight rules more rigorously, signaling that passengers engaging in disruptive behaviour may face serious legal penalties.

This decision also shapes how passengers experience their flights. Awareness that disruptive behaviour can be legally punished may improve the general atmosphere on flights. Passengers can expect clearer enforcement of rules and measures to reduce unnecessary stress. Airlines and authorities now play a larger role in ensuring that the cabin environment remains orderly and safe.

The Alicante conviction emphasizes the shared responsibility of passengers and airlines to maintain safety and respect during flights. Travelling by air involves more than reaching a destination; it requires cooperation and courtesy. As air travel grows, keeping flights disruption-free highlights the importance for passengers to behave considerately and follow regulations, helping make every journey safe and pleasant.
