Renovated Avani+ Barbarons Reopens, Expanding Travel Options on Mahé

On June 16, Avani+ Barbarons Seychelles reopened following an extensive renovation on Mahé’s west coast. Just 30 minutes from Seychelles International Airport, the resort has added modern interiors, lagoon-facing accommodations, and reworked communal areas. With 192 units, the resort pairs refreshed interiors with its tropical environment, positioning itself as a hub for travelers discovering the island.
Facility improvements include the addition of two bar-equipped pools, upgraded restaurants, and more areas for guests to gather. Lagoon Access Rooms allow direct water entry, while public areas such as poolside lounges and wellness facilities have been updated. The upgrades are designed to improve visitor comfort, simplify access, and highlight the surrounding coastal landscape.

Guests at the resort can explore three nearby attractions that add value to their visit. The Copolia Trail offers a moderate hike through native forest, ending with wide views of Mahé. The Morne Blanc Trail goes through former tea plantations and dense greenery, reaching a scenic viewpoint overlooking the coast. Port Launay Marine Park, a favorite for snorkelers and divers, offers vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life for nature lovers.
Just a few steps from the resort, Anse Barbarons Beach has calm waters and unique granite rocks, making it suitable for swimming and relaxation. Located a short distance away, Fairyland Beach offers calm waters and a sheltered cove suitable for snorkeling, providing a more secluded option for visitors. Located in Victoria, the botanical gardens highlight indigenous plants and are home to several of the Seychelles' well-known giant tortoises.

This reopening provides an updated option for travelers, with a location that offers both renovated resort facilities and immediate access to natural and cultural attractions. The island of Mahé combines everyday conveniences with natural attractions, providing a balanced experience for a wide range of travelers. The trend highlights efforts to maintain modern amenities while preserving the distinct cultural identity of the islands.
