Record-breaking hail for Europe falls in northern Italy: photos and video
A record-breaking hailstorm of up to 19 cm in diameter fell in the northern Italian city of Azzano Decimo. It is considered the largest hailstorm ever recorded in Europe.
This is stated in a post on Facebook by the European Storms Database. "In just 5 days, the European record for hail size has been broken again: a hailstorm of 19 cm has been confirmed in Italy," it said.
It is noteworthy that the previous record was broken just a few days ago. On 19 July, hail with a diameter of up to 16 cm fell in the municipality of Carmignano di Brenta.
It is noted that different regions of Italy are currently experiencing extreme weather conditions, ranging from extreme heat to devastating rains.
On Saturday, 15 cities across Italy declared a "red" heat alert level.
