Oman Celebrates Olive Season with Annual Harvest Event

Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in Oman is set to host its fourth annual Olive Harvest Festival from 24 to 28 September 2025. The festival is held in the Green Mountain region, an important center for olive farming, and welcomes both tourists and local residents. During the five-day event, participants can delve into the cultural and agricultural importance of olive trees through carefully planned activities that highlight this longstanding aspect of Omani tradition.
This year's festival is organized under the slogan "From tree to table – a journey through olive heritage," which emphasizes the connection between cultivation methods and the final product. Participants will be able to take part in practical harvesting sessions, olive oil tastings led by experts, and master classes conducted by guest chefs. These activities showcase both classic and contemporary ways olives are used in cooking, providing attendees with a clear understanding of how olives feature in the local cuisine and daily life.
“The Olive Harvest Festival is a tribute to the fertile land we have in Jabal Al Akhdar but also the people and traditions that shape this region. We are proud to host an event that connects guests to the richness of local culture and the universal joy of sharing a meal crafted with care."
Visitors will have the opportunity to follow the entire production process of olive oil, from orchards to pressing facilities. Guided tours will demonstrate how olives are harvested and pressed, giving visitors a practical look at quality control, storage, and packaging techniques. It aims to offer participants an in-depth view of how olive farming benefits local communities, reinforces the regional agricultural economy, and maintains traditions that have been passed through generations.
Festival culinary activities feature cooking workshops and themed dinners highlighting Mediterranean and Basque dishes made with locally sourced olives and olive oil. Visitors can learn new cooking techniques, enjoy a variety of olives in multiple dishes, and see firsthand how traditional flavors are skillfully blended with contemporary culinary styles. In these workshops, attendees participate in hands-on demonstrations that illustrate how local ingredients are turned into various dishes, offering them a rich and engaging perspective on the region’s culinary traditions.

The Olive Harvest Festival presents a delightful and interactive way to discover life in Oman's countryside while immersing in its seasonal traditions. In addition to tasting and cooking, participants can gain a deeper understanding of the role of olive cultivation in the local economy and social life.
