Following the decision of the Polish authorities to ban cars with Russian license plates from entering its territory, there is not a single EU country bordering Russia that would allow Russians to enter in their own cars.
The only way to enter the Schengen area by car from the western part of Russia is through Norway, which has only one checkpoint on its border. However, the authorities may soon close this "loophole" as well, Nrk.no reports.
According to Secretary of State Eivind Vad Petersson, following the example of Finland, Norway will introduce restrictions on the import and operation of cars registered in Russia.
"We are now looking at how to do this, and we will come back with effective measures soon," he said.
It is not yet known when the ban will be introduced.
