New Wizz Air Flights Open Southern Europe to Gdańsk Travellers

Starting from 28 October 2025, Wizz Air will begin operating direct flights from Gdańsk to two southern European cities: Madrid and Catania. Both routes are scheduled to run three times per week, with departures every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The services will be part of the airline’s updated winter timetable and will expand the number of destinations available directly from northern Poland during the low season and beyond.
According to the published schedule, both routes have been added to the airline’s booking systems. Flights are available through the official website and mobile app. With these new links, Gdańsk Airport strengthens its role as a regional gateway for international travel. You can now get from northern Poland straight to Madrid or Catania in one go, no connections or extra stops along the way.

Madrid blends quiet parks, grand museums and old streets where daily life still moves at its own pace. Not far from the heart of the city, El Retiro Park is a place where you can row a boat, catch an art show under the sky or simply escape the sun under the trees. Another well-known area is La Latina, famous for its tapas bars, narrow streets and the Sunday flea market El Rastro. Both locals and tourists wander these streets with ease, and you could comfortably see it all in one afternoon without needing anything more than your feet or a metro card.
Catania sits on Sicily’s east coast and feels like a world of its own, with a rhythm and scenery that set it apart from mainland cities. Right next to the Amenano Fountain, La Pescheria buzzes with voices and fresh catch every morning, giving you a real taste of how the city wakes up and starts its day. Nearby, the 13th-century Ursino Castle houses exhibitions related to archaeology and regional history. You can stroll to both places straight from the heart of old Catania, which makes it easy to check out whether you're just there for a few hours or staying a bit longer.

The introduction of these routes means travellers from Gdańsk can now reach Spain and Sicily without stopovers or connecting flights. Planning a trip gets a bit simpler when you can skip layovers, especially if you're aiming for a short city break or hoping to travel when things are quieter. Since flights run during the week and on weekends, it's easier to pick dates that fit your plans, especially if you're trying to avoid the busiest travel times.
