A new restaurant has opened in the heart of London’s Covent Garden, offering a menu inspired by New York City. Named Twenty8 NoMad, it began operating on 9 May and occupies part of the NoMad London hotel, located directly across from the Royal Opera House. The building, previously used as a magistrates’ court, has been completely refurbished to accommodate the restaurant and hotel facilities.

Twenty8 NoMad is operated by executive chef Zak Gregoire and culinary director Bryce Shuman, both of whom have worked with the NoMad brand at earlier locations. The menu reflects New York culinary traditions and incorporates selected French cooking techniques. The cocktail programme was developed in parallel with the food offering and references classic American bar service. Reservations are available to both hotel guests and external visitors.

Menu highlights include seafood sourced from both European and North American suppliers, as well as wood-fired meats and reworked versions of recognisable New York dishes. Examples include a prawn cocktail presented in a modern format and flatbreads prepared with dough inspired by traditional pizzerias. The menu is structured for full meals and table service. Vegetarian and pescatarian options are also available.

The dining space brings together an old-meets-new vibe, with tall ceilings, a working fireplace in the middle, and original design details that have been carefully brought back to life. Tables are set up so you can drop in alone, show up as a pair, or come with a few friends without needing to move things around. Artworks referencing literary and historical figures are placed throughout the space. The restaurant’s proximity to West End theatres and performance venues makes it accessible for travellers attending shows or visiting nearby cultural institutions.

Twenty8 NoMad fits into what’s happening all over Covent Garden lately, with more and more places to eat popping up in old buildings that have been fixed up and given a new purpose. This location offers a central stop for visitors exploring the West End on foot, with close access to shops, galleries, and transport links. Its opening adds another international dining option to London’s theatre district.
