Istanbul will impose a 617 lira ($23) fine for drinking alcohol in public places.
The day before, the authorities of the Turkish capital reminded of the current circular "Sale of Alcohol and Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages", which prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places such as beaches, embankments, parks, gardens and picnic and recreation areas.
It is noted that both locals and tourists will be fined for violations.
The ban does not apply to places licensed to sell alcohol.
"Alcohol retailing cannot be carried out from 22.00 to 06.00 hours, except for restaurants and places where licensed alcohol is sold," the warning states.
