InterContinental Hotel to Open in Manchester Bringing New Options for Travellers

IHG Hotels & Resorts has confirmed the upcoming arrival of its first InterContinental hotel in Manchester, with the full rebrand set to be completed by 2027. The distinctive Beetham Tower on Deansgate will be the home of the new hotel, adding to the city’s skyline. The property will feature 264 guest rooms across 22 floors and will remain operational during refurbishment, allowing visitors to continue using the facilities throughout the transition.
The refurbishment will bring an indoor pool, sauna, and fitness centre to the hotel, expanding the amenities available to visitors. A restaurant with a bar will also be available on the ground floor. Additionally, the hotel plans to provide 18 meeting rooms and considerable event space, perfect for various social functions. Situated in central Manchester, the hotel becomes an important addition to the city’s range of luxury lodging options.

Visitors staying at the hotel will be close to well-known areas such as the lively Spinningfields district, famous for its dining and nightlife, the historic Manchester Cathedral with its impressive architecture, and the vibrant Northern Quarter, known for its independent shops, cafés, and street art. Each provides a distinct urban experience. These neighborhoods present travelers with many ways to enjoy both cultural sites and entertainment venues.
For further leisure opportunities, guests can visit Deansgate Locks, a popular canal-side area with bars and eateries, Castlefield which offers scenic walking routes and Roman ruins, and the nearby Etihad Stadium, home to Manchester City Football Club, attracting sports fans from around the world. These destinations enhance leisure options. Their location in the heart of the city makes staying nearby especially convenient for travellers.

The decision to introduce an InterContinental hotel in Manchester signals a broader trend of tourism growth in the area. By adding an internationally recognised luxury hotel to its accommodation options, Manchester is better equipped to serve visitors seeking comfort and convenience in a central location. This development marks an important step in meeting the evolving needs of travellers to the city.
