Iberia and Volaris Announce New Flight Routes Between Mexico and Europe

Iberia, in partnership with Volaris, has introduced 25 new flight routes connecting Mexico with Europe. This year, Iberia is providing a record capacity for travel between the two regions, offering over 772,000 seats—a 17% increase from 2019.

The comprehensive codeshare agreement between Iberia and Volaris enhances connectivity for travelers. European passengers now have access to 25 additional Mexican destinations operated by Volaris. Similarly, passengers from these cities can easily connect to Iberia's flights between Mexico City and Madrid.

Iberia’s Spain-Mexico route is exclusively serviced by the Airbus A350, which accommodates 348 passengers across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes. This aircraft is notably efficient, consuming 35% less fuel than comparable models.

The codeshare agreement allows Iberia to place its code on Volaris-operated flights, improving booking and operational processes. This collaboration aims to streamline operations and enhance efficiency for both airlines.

María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial, Clients, and Network and Alliances Development Director, stated, "With this collaboration, we reaffirm our commitment to Mexico, offering better connectivity for our customers traveling to Mexico and facilitating more comfortable travel to Europe."

Holger Blankenstein, Executive President of Volaris, added, "This alliance with Iberia expands our connectivity via Mexico City, reaching 25 national destinations. Our goal is to enrich the travel experience for more people."

The destinations included in the codeshare agreement cover major Mexican cities such as Acapulco, Cancún, Guadalajara, Monterrey, and many more. Approval from Mexican and Spanish authorities is pending, with codeshare flights expected to start in July.
