Food delivery couriers in Cyprus will be banned from working during the heatwave
Cyprus food delivery couriers will be banned from working during the heatwave due to concerns for their health.
Thus, Yiannis Panayiotou announced this decision after a meeting of the Cabinet of Labour Ministers, explaining that food delivery on motorcycles will be banned from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on days for which the weather service has issued an orange or red warning, the Financial Mirror reports.
The ban will apply to delivery on motorcycles, bicycles and scooters.
It is noted that not only is this the hottest July ever recorded in Cyprus but also the hottest month since the establishment of the weather station in Atalassa Nicosia in 1983.
The Greek government announced a similar decision in regions where temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius the day before.
