Direct Winter Flight from Warsaw to Lapland Opens New Travel Opportunities

Polish airline LOT will begin operating a direct flight route between Warsaw and Rovaniemi in the 2025–2026 winter season. Flights are scheduled to start in late November and continue through early February, providing the first nonstop air connection between Poland and Finnish Lapland. Using Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, the twice-weekly flights are designed to simplify travel to the Arctic at the height of the tourist season.
Until now, reaching Rovaniemi from Poland typically required at least one connecting flight, often through Helsinki or other European airports. Travelers can now reach Lapland faster and without the hassle of transfers, which is especially helpful during the busy winter season. The new flight provides a convenient choice for short breaks or seasonal travel without the hassle of connecting flights.
The improved access will allow visitors to explore several well-known attractions in Rovaniemi and nearby areas. Located near the city, Santa Claus Village attracts thousands of tourists every winter season. The Arktikum Science Museum is a notable site where guests can deepen their understanding of Arctic heritage and history. For outdoor lovers, Ounasvaara Hill provides skiing and stunning views over the surrounding woodland.
Further afield, the route makes it easier to reach destinations beyond Rovaniemi that highlight the region's natural beauty. Travelers can plan trips to the Ranua Wildlife Park, situated an hour south of the city, home to Arctic animals including polar bears. Korouoma Canyon features frozen waterfalls that create a distinctive winter hiking destination. Visitors keen on Sámi culture may find Inari worth exploring as it lies further north and can be reached by road from Rovaniemi.

The addition of this flight route supports growing interest in Arctic tourism and reflects broader efforts to improve direct access to seasonal destinations in Europe. By offering a straightforward flight option, the service streamlines travel for those organizing winter vacations. The new service increases flight options from Poland to emerging travel spots in Northern Europe that have been attracting more visitors lately.
