China Airlines Adjusts Rules After Southeast Asia Earthquake

Under the revised guidelines, travelers may rebook their flights without paying fare differences or service charges if the updated itinerary falls within 14 days of the original travel date and keeps the same airline, route, and airport. Only flights operated directly by China Airlines or its regional arm AE are included. Rebookings to codeshare flights or other carriers are not permitted. When changes don’t meet all conditions, fare differences may still apply, although rebooking fees are waived.
The airline provides explicit steps for changes or refunds, intended for travelers on their way out the door or still planning the trip. You are eligible for full refunds since every ticket is null and void, while partially used tickets could also be subject to fee waivers. Additional prepaid services—such as reserved seats or extra baggage—can also be refunded. Refund applications must be submitted through the original booking channel, whether via the airline's official website, customer service, or a travel agency.
Those holding group, free, or reduced fare tickets should note that these categories are excluded from the general waiver. Instead the travelers have to coordinate with their travel agent individually to avail of the choices. Time limits and subject-specific fare rules exist too, thus quick action is advised.
