Cambridge Launches Regular Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Covering Major City Attractions

Buses on Cambridge’s new hop-on hop-off route depart every 20 minutes and cover 18 destinations throughout the city. The route passes historic colleges, cultural landmarks, and shopping districts. Audio guides in eight languages offer details about the city’s history and local traditions. Passengers may get on or off the bus at any stop. The service operates from Easter until the October Half Term and does not run during the winter months.
Different ticket categories are available depending on the tour selected. Prices for the service are as follows:
Open-top bus tour:
- Adults: £17
- Concessions and students: £14
- Children: £11.50
- Family ticket (two adults and up to three children aged 5–15; children under five travel free): £41
Combined open-top bus and punting tour:
- Adults: £45

The bus route passes several important cultural and historical landmarks. The Fitzwilliam Museum, dating back to 1816, holds a variety of art, manuscripts, and antiquities, with pieces by Titian and Turner as well as Greek and Roman artifacts. Built between 1446 and 1515, King’s College Chapel contains a fan-vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows, and is the home of the King’s College Choir. Both sites are recognized as part of Cambridge’s heritage and are included as stops on the bus tour.
Other stops on the route include the Cambridge American Cemetery, which commemorates 3,812 U.S. service members who died in Europe during World War II and contains marble headstones, a chapel, and a memorial wall. The route also passes the Cambridge University Botanic Garden and Bridge Street, representing a mix of historical, natural, and urban areas. The stops are accessible within the 24-hour ticket period.

The open-top bus tour lasts approximately 80 minutes. Punting tours associated with the combined ticket are scheduled upon presentation of the ticket at Scudamore’s locations on Silver Street or Quayside. There is no fixed starting time for combined tours, as availability depends on third-party scheduling. The service resumes each spring after the winter pause.
