Airbnb scams: why you should take photos before and after checking out
More and more tourists using the Airbnb booking service are encountering scams. They may be the owners of the accommodation you are renting.

Some travelers have encountered situations where landlords demanded an additional $500 cleaning fee from them. They would send fake photos of cigarettes in a cup or other messes to the guests and the service to prove their case.
The problem is that travelers can't prove their point without photos. They also often can't remove a positive Airbnb review after the scammers are exposed.
There is an easy way to avoid being tricked - take photos before you move in and after you move out. This way, you can prove that there was some damage to the apartment before you arrived and that you left everything in order.
For an additional level of security, the publication advises to conduct all communications and transactions directly on the real Airbnb website and never transfer money to the host or give it to them in person.
