AirAsia Philippines Targets Gen Z and Millennials for 2024 Travel Surge

In an ambitious move to rejuvenate the travel industry in 2024, AirAsia Philippines is setting its sights on the adventurous Gen Z and Millennial travelers. Leveraging their inclination towards journeying with significant others, family, and friends, the airline aims to create a wave of unforgettable travel experiences. A recent international survey underscores this trend, revealing that an overwhelming 90% of 18 to 43-year-olds prefer traveling with companions to forge lasting memories.

AirAsia Philippines' data from January further supports this trend, with over 600,000 guests taking to the skies. Notably, Gen Z travelers accounted for 34% of this total, while Millennials represented a staggering 58%. This demographic shift signals a promising resurgence in travel, driven by younger generations' quest for exploration and connection.

Looking ahead, the airline reports a surge in bookings for both domestic island retreats like Boracay, Cebu, Bohol, and Puerto Princesa, and international hotspots including Taipei, Incheon, Osaka, and Narita. Reservations for these destinations have reached 700,000 seats as of February 1, with Gen Z and Millennials making up significant portions of the travelers.

AirAsia is not just observing these trends but actively engaging with them. "We are extremely excited to welcome the energy that young travelers—Gen Zs and millennials alike—will bring as the travel profile diversifies," says Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Head of Communications and Public Affairs. The airline is especially keen on promoting beach destinations for those seeking romantic or family getaways, alongside bucket-list international destinations.

In a bid to further captivate these younger travelers, AirAsia Philippines is launching an enticing "LFG" summer campaign. Additionally, the airline offers a Heart’s Month treat, allowing passengers to book one-way base fares to any domestic or international destination for just PHP22 until February 4, for travel up until July 31, 2024.

For those eager to plan their next adventure, AirAsia Philippines also extends a special invitation to the 31st Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) Travel Expo at the SMX Convention Center, from February 2 to 4, 2024. Attendees can enjoy a 10% discount on fares and baggage fees for domestic and international flights, valid for travel until March 19, 2025.
