Affordable £1 Sunday Bus Fare Launched in Lancashire

Starting this weekend, travelers can explore Lancashire more affordably with the introduction of a new £1 Sunday bus fare. This initiative is part of a £7.025 million investment by Lancashire County Council, supported by HM Government's Bus Service Improvement Plan, aiming to enhance travel experiences across the county.
The new £1 fare, available throughout the day on Sundays and bank holidays, extends the existing evening fare. Replacing the previous "Buy Saturday, Get Sunday Free" offer, known as the Weekender Ticket, this change makes weekend travel more convenient and budget-friendly.
With the new fare in place, summer weekends in Lancashire become an ideal time for affordable exploration. The significant investment builds on previous enhancements to the transportation network, enabling residents and visitors to enjoy the county's attractions while traveling sustainably.
In addition to the new fare, a new bus service, the Rivington 125R, will begin operating this Sunday. Provided by Stagecoach, this service will connect Chorley to Rivington for the first time, with stops at Horwich Parkway and Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park. Running every Sunday and bank holiday until November 3, 2024, the service offers travelers more options to explore Lancashire's scenic and recreational spots.
The Rivington 125R service is funded through a partnership between Lancashire County Council and several organizations, including South East Lancashire Community Rail Partnership, Community Rail Network, Cross Country Trains, Horwich Town Council, and Transport for Greater Manchester. More details about this service can be found on the Stagecoach website.
