About 120,000 people a year confuse these countries: Sweden names fundamental differences with Switzerland
The Swedish Tourist Board has released a humorous yet informative video about the confusion between two very different countries. It so happens that due to a number of factors, Sweden and Switzerland are often confused, which can be offensive to residents of European countries.
Their names begin with "Sw" and their flags feature crosses, so foreigners may inadvertently mistake one country for the other. According to Metro, about 120,000 people a year confuse the two countries, including world leaders.
In Sweden's new satirical promotional video, the country's "spokesperson" appeals to its friend in need to solve a common problem forever.
The woman in the video explained the differences between the two nations, their lifestyles, cultures, etc.
She emphasized, "Switzerland is about banks, and Sweden is about sandbanks." The video goes on to list that Switzerland is known for its luxury watches, yodeling, mountain tops, and LSD, while in Sweden you can relax in silence on top of houses and under the Northern Lights.
As a result, Sweden has reached out to its Swiss counterparts to end the confusion between the two countries and to get to know the cultures of both nations better.
