A large-scale strike will be held at German airports
The German trade union Ver.di has announced that tomorrow, February 1, airport security personnel will go on strike at 11 airports in Germany.
The strikes are scheduled for Hamburg (HAM), Bremen (BRE), Hanover (HAJ), Berlin (BER), Cologne (CGN), Dusseldorf (DUS), Leipzig (LEJ), Dresden (DRS), Erfurt (ERF), Frankfurt (FRA) and Stuttgart (STR), the statement said.
Thus, Ver.di called on about 25,000 aviation security employees involved in the control of passengers, baggage and personnel not to go to work from morning to midnight. The union is demanding a €2.80 per hour pay increase and higher overtime bonuses.
In recent days, Germany has been hit by a series of strikes in the transportation sector. On January 30, a major six-day strike by drivers of the state-owned railroad operator Deutsche Bahn just ended.
