83% of Romanian tourists are going to pay with a card during their holidays
Four out of five Romanians who will go on holiday abroad this year plan to pay with a card, smartphone or smartwatch.
Every third Romanian tourist (35%) plans to spend between EUR 200 and EUR 600 per person on holiday abroad. Such data was released by Visa CEE Travel and Payment Intentions Study 2023, which covers eight CEE markets, including Romania, Business Review reports.
Thus, it is specified that 83% of Romanians who organise their trip on their own will buy some kind of travel service online, and 3 out of 4 of them say they will pay with a card or digital wallet. 58% will book accommodation, 40% will book transport, and 19% will pay for entrance fees and additional excursions.
More than half of Romanian holidaymakers (51%) plan to use the same payment card abroad as they do at home.
64% of Romanians who buy package holidays abroad will also do so online, through travel agency websites or platforms that collect offers from multiple tour operators. Almost 3 quarters of these holidaymakers (74%) will pay for their purchases with a card or digital wallet. Buying holidays online is most popular in Croatia (78% of travel agency clients buy online), Slovakia (76%) and Slovenia (74%).
