The National Park Service has announced its annual list of free entry days for 2024. Thus, tourists will be able to enter 63 national parks in the country for free.
Such an affordable option for recreation and tourism will last six days and will be distributed between seasons. It is noted that travellers will be able to save from $10 to $35, the Washington Post reports.
According to Kathy Kupper, a spokeswoman for the US National Park Service, the entrance days are dedicated to the celebration of national holidays and events directly related to the parks. Kupper believes that such actions will help encourage tourists to continue visiting the parks.
"If entrance fees are a barrier to visitors, we want to be able to waive them on certain days throughout the year to encourage people to visit a park they may have never been to before," Kathy said.
However, despite the free entrance to the parks, tourists will still have to pay for certain services, such as boat launches, camping reservations, or special tours. In addition, Kathy emphasizes that on such days, parks near major underground stations tend to be particularly popular among the local population. That's why it's better to choose more non-obvious alternatives to avoid the crazy crowds.
