3 airlines operating affordable transcontinental flights in 2024
Getting great flight deals is always a pleasure and highly appreciated by most travelers on a budget. Especially when it comes to long-haul routes, which cannot be cheap in principle.
There are several airlines in the United States that offer favorable fares for such flights due to the high level of competition. Simple Flying found out who these carriers are and what benefits they offer their customers.
The longest route
One of the largest routes connecting New York and Los Angeles is operated non-stop by six air carriers that actively compete with each other. One of these companies is Spirit Airlines.
According to the CheapOair ticket booking site, this airline offers the cheapest direct flights connecting Newark (EWR) and Los Angeles (LAX) for only $228. However, passengers will have to pay for additional costs, namely baggage allowance, which may exceed the total amount.
Other important routes
Another long and important route is from the East to the West Coast. It includes flights from Washington, DC to San Francisco and Boston to Seattle. These are the most fiercely contested routes.
Unlike Frontier, which offers round-trip flights from Washington to San Francisco for only $249 with a stopover at Denver International Airport (DEN), United Airlines offers the cheapest direct flights on this route. However, the cost of tickets will be 413 USD.
At the same time, prices from Seattle to Boston are also unlikely to please travelers. In particular, Alaska Airlines offers round-trip tickets between these cities for only $298. In addition, the company can offer moderate fees for the transportation of hand luggage.
