World’s First Minecraft Hotel Is Coming to the UK
Minecraft fans will be able to stay inside the game when the world’s first Minecraft hotel opens at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027. The 69-room hotel will be part of the wider £50 million Minecraft World development in south-west London. Created by Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, it will extend the themed experience beyond the park with Minecraft-inspired rooms, dining areas and immersive details across four floors.
The hotel will have 20 premium and 49 standard rooms inspired by Minecraft’s biomes, mobs, colours and textures. Guests will enter through an Overworld-style check-in area, use Nether Portal-inspired lifts and walk along mine-tunnel corridors. An underwater-themed restaurant and a Woodland Mansion-inspired potions bar are also planned. An exact opening date, room rates and booking launch have not yet been announced.

The hotel will sit beside Minecraft World, where visitors will be able to ride Escape the Nether, billed as the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster, explore interactive adventures and use themed dining and retail areas. Chessington’s wider resort also includes rides and animal attractions, making the hotel easier to combine with a multi-day family break rather than a single visit built around one new attraction.

Getting there should be straightforward from London. South Western Railway services run from Waterloo to Chessington South in about 35 minutes, and the resort is roughly a 10-minute walk from the station. The hotel’s key difference is that it is designed as an extension of Minecraft World, although travellers will need to wait for prices and a firm opening date before deciding whether the stay offers good value.
