Wizz Air Adds Easier Connections, But Transfers Stay Manual

Wizz Air has launched a new booking platform designed to simplify multi-leg journeys, allowing customers to combine connecting flights in a single purchase. The tool, called Wizz Link, brings together routes via the airline’s main hubs and presents them as one itinerary. Despite the smoother booking flow, the airline stresses that these journeys still rely on self-transfer rather than protected connections.

Passengers using Wizz Link must collect checked luggage, clear border controls where required, and check in again for the onward flight. This means allowing extra time between legs, especially at busy airports. The system does not change how baggage is handled or how missed connections work by default, keeping responsibility largely with the traveller rather than the airline.

The platform was developed in partnership with Dohop and introduces an optional add-on called ConnectSure. This protection offers rebooking assistance if delays on the first flight cause a missed onward leg. While it can save time compared with booking separate tickets manually, it does not remove the need to navigate airports and formalities between flights.

Using these hubs, Wizz Air says the system unlocks over 8,000 new routing combinations, including trips such as Athens–Oslo via Bucharest or Kutaisi–Reykjavík via Warsaw. Some itineraries mirror existing direct routes but may appear cheaper, trading price for longer layovers and extra airport procedures.

The update changes how tickets are booked, not how connections work on the ground. Wizz Link allows multiple Wizz Air flights to be booked in one go, but passengers still need to collect their bags and check in again for the onward flight. Time between flights has to be planned carefully. This setup works for those who are comfortable handling transfers on their own, while others may stick with direct services or tickets where connections are handled automatically.
