WestJet Adds New Domestic Links as Summer 2026 Network Grows
WestJet has confirmed an expansion of its domestic schedule for summer 2026, adding four new seasonal non-stop routes across Canada. The airline will introduce services linking Calgary with Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Campbell River, alongside a new Terrace–Edmonton connection. The new routes target regional markets and operate during the peak summer period, linking smaller cities with major hubs.
The new routes are built around Calgary’s role as WestJet’s main domestic gateway, offering direct access for communities in Ontario and British Columbia. Campbell River and Sault Ste. Marie regain direct western links, while North Bay secures its first non-stop service to Calgary. The Terrace–Edmonton route adds another west–west option, supporting travel within British Columbia and Alberta during the busy summer season.
Beyond the new city pairs, WestJet is increasing capacity on several established east–west routes. Domestic seat supply at Halifax Stanfield International Airport is set to rise by almost 50 per cent, with higher frequencies to cities including Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto. Capacity between Deer Lake and Calgary will also double, reflecting sustained demand for cross-country travel during summer months.
Greater frequency and new non-stop options make a wider range of destinations easier to reach during short trips and longer holidays. Atlantic Canada becomes more accessible for travellers based in the west, while residents of Ontario and British Columbia gain simpler access to Alberta as a transfer point. Popular regions such as Vancouver Island, Northern Ontario and coastal Newfoundland are better positioned for summer tourism and visiting friends or family.

Domestic travel continues to account for a large share of air traffic in Canada, particularly during the summer period. The addition of direct services reduces the need for connections and restores regular air links at smaller regional airports. Domestic trips across Canada will involve shorter routes, fewer transfers and fixed schedules in summer 2026.
